The Government of Indonesia is in the middle of amending Regulation of the Ministry of Agriculture number 34 year 2016 on Importation of Carcass, Meat, Offal, and/or Its Processed Products Thereof Into The Territory of The Republic of Indonesia to comply with The WTO Panel Recommendation of the Dispute Settlement DS484 between Brazil and Indonesia (Pikiran Rakyat, May 17, 2018 – Indonesia Surplus Ayam, Ayam Brazil Tidak Tak Masuk).
Indonesia’s Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) has revealed that an Australian investor is keen on establishing an integrated meat processing facility in the country with exports as its main focus. “I can’t reveal the value of the investment but the investor has the ability to export 700 containers of frozen meat throughout the world in a week,” said Franky Sibarani, BKPM Chairman. He added that Indonesia was chosen because of its strategic location and halal certification system.
